Auntie Anne’s® is Twisting Things Up

With The Pretzel Perfect Tongue Twister Contest

GAP, Pa. (May 30, 2006) – Auntie Anne’s is calling kids across the nation to contort and twist their tongues this summer and say “Picky Pretzel People Pick Pretzel Perfect Pretzels” for a chance to win a $2,500 scholarship, a $500 shopping spree, and a year’s supply of Auntie Anne’s pretzels. Kids must recite the Pretzel Perfect Tongue Twister as quickly, precisely and passionately as possible to reign as the National Pretzel Perfect Tongue Twisting Champion. All contestants will be judged by the Guinness Book of World Records Fastest Female Talker, Fran Capo.

“I’ve been clocked saying 10 words per second, so it comes as no surprise to me that I’m known as the ‘Fast Talker Extraordinaire,’” said Fran Capo. “As a judge for the Pretzel Perfect Tongue Twister contest, I will be on the lookout for the contestant who talks the fastest, speaks the clearest and demonstrates the most passion for pretzels.”

How the Tongue Twister Contest Works

Between June 5 and July 23, kids age 6-12 years will have the opportunity to submit a video or DVD of themselves reciting the Pretzel Perfect Tongue Twister – “Picky Pretzel People Pick Pretzel Perfect Pretzels.” Auntie Anne’s also will accept Tongue Twister entries at specific mall events throughout the country during the summer. All Tongue Twister participants will receive a bookmark, which includes a voucher for a free Auntie Anne’s pretzel. Additionally, Auntie Anne’s will donate one book per entry to the child’s school library.

The Pretzel Perfect Judging and Winners

In addition to Fran Capo, judges of the Pretzel Perfect Tongue Twister Contest will include Amanda Putney, Auntie Anne’s fastest pretzel roller and Sam Beiler, president and CEO of Auntie Anne’s, Inc. All videos must be postmarked by Monday, July 24 and be received by Wednesday, July 26 for consideration. Qualified participants will be judged on clarity, accuracy and their passion for pretzels.

The grand prize winner will be announced the week of August 14, along with 20 national finalists. Each finalist will receive a pretzel perfect party for their class and a $20 gift card.
